KidKart
Courtney Curran gets first win of rookie season

Two rain outs during the 2014 season extended the SEKA/AmpedUp racing season late into November. The weather decided to cooperate this time for a action packed day of racing dominated by three of the fastest females in the entire south east. The day’s events started with the Kid Karts with Courtney Curran piloting her #54 Maxxis Tire machine to her 1st career win to close out her rookie season. Walker Porter finished a strong second after winning six races in a row throughout the season in route to his season championship. Lucas Laidig did a great job and finished 3rd in his first career start.

Max Porter (7) & Denny Freeston (2)

Next up was the Clone Jr. Sportsman class with Ty Porter and Kevin Lanyi once again putting on a great race with several lead changes all the way up to the last lap when Ty edged Kevin by a nose at the line and secured the points championship. Ryan Chance finished 3rd.

Clone Jr. Pro saw Elijah Skaggs winning the race and the championship followed by Denny Freeston and Max Porter . Jo Jo Wilkinson finishing fourth.

Yamaha Jr.Sportsman had all 3 competitors leading laps after each of them took turns at getting a bit sideways out of turn 2. After the dust had settled, Elijah Skaggs got the win followed by Ty Porter and Max porter.

The LO206 class was once again the biggest class of the day. After a wild heat race that saw three different leaders, the Skaggs brothers, Matt and Joseph started on the front row followed by Billy McDowell and Zane Lockwood. When the green flag waved, McDowell gave Matt Skaggs a hard shove into the lead and followed him ahead of Joseph Skaggs. Joseph made his way around McDowell and caught his brother and pushed him lap after lap waiting to make his move on the last lap. McDowell settled into third followed by points leader Zane Lockwood and Shawn Harding made his way to fifth. Joseph made his move off of the final turn of the last lap but came up two feet short and finished second to Matt. McDowell finished third and Lockwood finished fourth and wrapped up his first points championship and Shawn Harding finished fifth.

The Shifter class saw Kerry Graham winning his first race of the year followed by Chris Parrish and Cory Emick who had to come from the rear after Ned Freeston let him borrow his backup kart after Emick blew up his motor on his kart.
The 1/4 oval classes were next and the Pro Mix class had 6 entries with the another fast female finding victory lane. Brittney Pirolla from South Carolina made her asphalt debut and showed everyone around the track by winning the Pro Mix class. Bret Miles finished second with Ross Bagwell finishing in 3rd.

Blake Owenby Won the Clone Medium Pro class again and also won the 2014 points championship.
Our third flying female of the day, Jolynn Wilkinson aka “Jo Jo” continued in her winning ways by winning the Clone Jr. Pro Class on the quarter-mile asphalt oval proving that she can get the job done on asphalt just like she can on dirt. Jolynn elected to take her restrictor plate out and run with the adults for more track time. She let the race director know before the race, that there was nothing to worry about because she was (One tough chick). With that said, race director, Matt Skaggs could not argue with her and allowed her to run with the adults where she drove her Riverchase Kia sponsored #11 to the lead by lap 2 and battled with the adults and finishing 3rd overall.

Courtney Curran & Mike Curran both get feature wins.

The 5/8 mile big track saw Jerry Duffle win in 4-cycle open. Chris Parrish won in 2-cycle open and Mike Curran won in Clone.
It was a great day to close out the season and we hope that all who participated plan to come back next year.

Hopefully everyone is planning on attending the banquet at Music City Indoor Karting in Nashville Tennessee, Sunday night December 7th at 5 p.m.
