Luis Garcia picks up AURS first win
Luis Garcia of Chatsworth, Ga., collected one more victory with his kart on an ashphalt track Saturday, June, 22 in the inaugural race of the Amped Up Racing Series.
This time Garcia, who has been racing his kart on dirt tracks for about eight years, collected a clean sweep by winning his heat and feature race at Dickson Speedway’s first race in six years.
Garcia, who has won three winter series and two summer series’ trackchampionships at Dawgwood Speedway in Chatsworth, paced seven other racers in the 10-lap heat race and six others in the 15-lap feature.
This was only his second time racing on an asphalt track. A few weeks ago, he also won his heat and feature race on Twin Fountains in Shelbyville in a SEKA Racing event.
He said racing on asphalt is a little easier than dirt.
His father, Florentino, added that on a dirt track, racers can make mistakes and recover though.
The Amped Up Racing Series started this year with races at Dickson Speedway and plans to add other tracks in future. Dickson Speedway is a 1/5 asphalt tri-oval. The series was started by Amped Up Entertainment and President Mike Curran to bring kart racing back to the area and Middle Tn
The Amped Up Racing Series next race will be Aug. 17, 2013 at Dickson Speedway.
